Friendship
Introduction :
Friendship is a human instinct between two persons not bound by any relationship. It is one of the greatest blessings of Allah for mankind. It is a relationship that is based on the union of like-minded persons. It adds to our joy in prosperity and helps to relieve our miseries in adversity. Our friends share with us the joys of our success. In our misfortune. they are with us and try to diminish our grief in various ways. It is a friendship that sometiměs springs from mental esteem and from our long attachment. The attribute of friendship has existed since the creation of human beings. Many good things can be done if there is a friendship between two persons. However, loyalty to friends is an essential quality of true friendship.
A good friend is a real friend:
A real friend is an asset. He who is deprived of at least one good friend is deprived of something that cannot be replaced in any way.. A good friend is he who is ready to share equally the joys of prosperity and the sufferings of adversity. He is not a beguiling spoken flatterer who says what will give pleasure only. A good friend is like a comrade who is always ready to come forward with a helping hand whenever necessary. He is always a sincere well-wisher. While choosing a friend, one must seek one of a trustful nature. A friend is a person who is to be taken into confidence.
Benefits of friendship :
A good friend is the kind of person to whom we can open our hearts. So we should choose such friends as we can trust. Friendship is assumed to be everlasting. So one must choose tolerant and forbearing persons as friends. Again, one must choose friends from among one’s own status or worth. No real friendship grows between unequal. The friendship between unequal is unpleasant.
Fairweather friends :
Fairweather friends can do much harm to a friend. The desert a friend when he falls into difficulty. So we should be cautious while selecting a friend.
Conclusion :
Friendship may become unpleasant if there is a touch of selfishness in either of the two. Unpleasant friendship often leads to enmity. Using friends against others is a crime. In making friendship and fraternity, it should be kept in mind that a friend in need is a friend indeed.
